Gunning is an award-winning director and editor whose career spans commercials, film, and television. After graduating from UCL, she cut her teeth at The Whitehouse Post in London, editing campaigns for Wieden & Kennedy, 72 and Sunny and Mother. Work on Nike, Levis, Adidas, VW, and Guinness lead to numerous awards, including D&AD, AICP, and a Gold lion at Cannes. 

She went on to edit BAFTA, BIFA, and Golden Globe-winning films for Anthony Minghella, Martin McDonagh, John Madden, Lasse Hallström, and Sam Taylor-Johnson, including Seven Psychopaths, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, and Nowhere Boy.

Her directing debut — a multi-award-winning film for Goldfrapp’s Tales of Us — screened in over 400 cinemas worldwide. Moving to Los Angeles, she helmed multiple global campaigns for Amazon, Google, Ford, Lexus, Walmart, American Airlines, and more.

More recently in television, Gunning directed key episodes of Amazon Prime’s The Power, a globe-spanning thriller from Sister Pictures (Chernobyl) and Netflix’s Black Doves, a six-part spy drama starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, Sarah Lancashire, and Tracey Ullman. She is currently based in the UK directing The Wanted Man for Apple TV+, starring Hugh Laurie, Thandiwe Newton, and Gina McKee.
